Digital Signage Klips: LED Screen in Darling Harbour Shopping Centre

Quite a number of Shopping Centres are now installing LED screens suspended from the ceiling and I’m quite intrigued as to what was involved with installing such a complex and large screen.

Digital Signage Klip: LED screen in Westfields Pitt Street

The following klip was submitted by Danny from Sydney Australia. The klip shows a large LED screen in the food court area in Westfields Pitt Street Mall Australia. It appears LED screens in shopping centres are becoming more popular.

The Westfields in Pitt Street was officially opened at the end of last month and so far has received quite a lot of attention. There is more than 100 fashion and food specialty stores will open for trade by Christmas, at what will be a world class retail and commercial precinct. I wonder how many are going to use digital signage for their stores.

Digital Signage Klips: Easter Show Homebush Sydney Australia

This weeks klips are pictures we took at the Easter Show Homebush Sydney Australia. This is actually the first time I attended the show and I couldn’t believe how many people where there and how big the show area was. I only spent a few hours there and only covered 1/4 of all the events.

Before you actually enter the show area you will notice a big led screen at the entrance:

Basically, digital signage was everywhere. There was quite a number of stalls which had digital signage and I believe that they were running the content from a CD/DVD player as I couldn’t find a PC or embedded appliance. By the way I didn’t see any kiosk or digital signage screens with directions or way finding. I actually hope to see this next year and if the organisers wants to contact us feel free to do so as we will be able to assist. Here are some photos of the digital signage screens:

Parramatta Westfield LED Screen

In the busy city of Adelaide (in South Australia) lies the popular stretch of shops in Rundle Mall. There is no other perfect place for this large piece of real estate to impress than to be suspended high up in full view of passers-by. Perfect for the festive season and Christmas shopping, this large LED screen creates entertainment for all.

This week’s klip comes from Becky, a regular shopper at Rundle Mall.
“There is not one girl in Adelaide who does not know Rundle Mall”.

Digital Signage Klips: At the Airport

Shopping Centres – Battle of the big screens

Shopping centres attract over $8 million customers each week nationally, so when you have these pairs of eyes walking in the shopping centres who would want to have the biggest screen to attract the attention of these customers. Using digital signage for advertising in shopping centres is one of the biggest revenue making streams and obviously we know the reason why…. exposure.

The Westfield Centre in Bondi Junction has one of the largest screens we’ve seen. From what we could tell, it’s basically an LED Screen (I think it’s either a 25 or 40 meter square screen) hanging from the ceiling. I’m just amazed how anyone could have been able to install such a screen especially when the screen is hanging from several wires. Here’s a close up picture of the screen:

Also recently, I was visiting one of the Centro shopping centres and noticed a big screen- in actual fact it was a wall of screens connected in a 3×3 arrangement to form a large screen. This is how it looked liked – if you look closely you can see the bezels of the screens.

So far Westfields has the biggest screens in Australia and we should see more of these popping up in the major shopping centres since the cost of having these big screens is becoming more affordable and the quality is becoming better.

Make way for the Samsung LED HDTVs

Say goodbye to LCD and Plasmas screens and let’s make way for the latest LED screen technology. You may have already started noticing that prices for LCD screens and Plasma screens have been dropping in the past few years and one of the many reasons for this is the introduction of the next screen technology “LEDs”. Now, your typical LED billboards have been around for quite some time now but now screen manufactures are developing screens for the home and for commercial purposes.

So today, we thought we’d look at some of the features of the Samsung LED HDTV and in particular the UN55B8000 (55″ 1080p LED HDTV). Just say you feel like playing a game of chess or cooking instead of watching TV. Samsung Series 8 LED TV’s Content Library Flash feature lets you do just that. Enjoy hours of built-in entertainment features, then personalize it by adding content that’s available online. And downloading is easy. There’s so much you can do with te Series 8 LED TVs.

In terms of price… it’s not so bad, it’s actually only US$3,999.99 (who uses 1 cents these days?). Anyways, if you’re intending to capture your audience using the best picture quality – bright and clear images then look no further… LED is the way to go.

The Worlds Largest LED Screen

We came across an article that we thought our readers would be interested in reading. The article is about a new LED Billboard in Times Square which is officially the largest LED screen in the world. For those techies they would love to have worked on this project as it uses some very interesting and the latest technologies. Just even looking at the pictures you’ll be amazed to the amount of grunt and gear the system uses to drive content to the LED screen.
